The biggest sign mistake?

Biggest sign mistakes? There are many, but one really stands out. Owners and Managers approach their sign needs with a very broad approach and a very narrow focus. Trying to make one sign fit all customers, and it has to be their design. The first indicator is a sign that lacks focus. It is very cluttered and difficult to read at any distance. If you are advertising for a Car Wash, do you really need to list every detail of what you do, including clean the floor matts? Not hardly.

Your first question should be, what is your business strategy? Starting with who is your target market and who are the customers you are trying to attract? Very clear focus with a narrow scope. What type of sign will be needed? Where is the best location and what is the viewable distance? What colors or graphics are needed, that will trigger the customers buying instinct?

Is the color I see on my monitor accurate to what I’ll receive?

Monitor callibration is subjective. CRT monitors, LCD monitors, and LED monitors all have differences in color accuracy. To get the best possible idea of the color you will receive, we have color charts on the walls in our shop. Pantone numbers can be given as a target reference, but note that different printing techniques and substrates affect the output. We can assist in matching as close as possible to supplied samples or Pantone numbers. Depending on your monitor calibration, these colors may or may not show accurately. With an order, a print sample can be provided if requested.

Can Rocketsigns Produce Graphics for Me if I Supply The Images?

Can You make a Sign From A Digital Photograph?

What is DPI?

What is the difference between vector and bitmap images and which is better?

Vector Graphics: Vector images (or graphics) are also called object oriented graphics. The art is constructed of points, lines, curves, shapes and are infinitely scalable with no loss of clarity. Vector graphics are made in programs such as Adobe Illustrator and CorelDraw. Due to the fact that they are scalable, they are the preferred file type when producing your images. Typically file types are as follows: .ai, .cdr, .eps, These files can contain both vector and raster images. Raster Graphics: Images that are pixel based are called raster images, basically photos, pictures etc. Raster images have thousands of little dots of different colors to create an image. These images can be enlarged but will pixelate (become ragged, blurry, or distorted). Raster images are made in programs such as Adobe Photoshop and CorelPaint. Typically file types are as follows: .tiff, .jpg, .bmp, .gif.
